All about

Thanks to funding from the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), YHA provide young people with the opportunity to participate in a Community Spirit residential activity camp promoting Community Cohesion.

The project is designed to provide a challenging and exciting time for young people from areas with community tension, creating a unique experience that takes them outside their comfort zone.

Participants will experience new activities and make new friends whilst having the chance to discuss and tackle any difficult issues they are facing in the community.

Activities during a Community Spirit camp vary depending on the individual needs of the group and the work already being done in the community. Most activities will be outdoor adventure based such as climbing, kayaking and caving, whilst some camps may offer lighter options such as yoga.

Meals

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but the rest of the day’s meals mustn’t be forgotten either when there’s zip wires to swing down or cliffs to scale.
All activities during a Community Spirit camp require energy and that’s why our YHA centres are equipped to produce exciting, delicious, healthy, home-cooked meals throughout your stay. Special diets can be catered for by arrangement.
